Sickness

If your child is unable to attend please contact the pre-school as soon as possible to let a member of staff know. Please note refunds are not available for absences. Children who are unwell should not be brought to Nursery It is obviously best for them to be at home and also to avoid them passing their illness on to the other children and the staff. If your child is suffering from vomiting and/or diarrhoea, please do not bring them to Nursery until 48 hours after the last episode. Please inform Nursery staff as soon as possible, if your child has something contagious e.g. chicken pox; all information will be treated with discretion. Staff ratios

the staff: child ratios are governed by law, and are currently

1: 8 for 3 years and 4 years and

1: 4 for 2-year olds.

1:3 for 1 year olds.

We always adhere to these requirements; however, we try to work to a higher staff: child ratio wherever possible.

Setting routine

Our setting believes that care and education are equally important in the experience which we offer children. The routines and activities that make up the day in the setting are provided in ways that:

• help each child to feel that he/she is a valued member of the setting;

• ensure the safety of each child;

• help children to gain from the social experience of being part of a group; and

• provide children with opportunities to learn and help them to value learning.

Snack

At The Little Learners Nursery we like to promote healthy eating. So our AM and PM snack will be a variety of different healthy foods. With our healthy snacks we will provide water or milk.

An example snack would be: Soft cheese, Grapes & Cracker with milk or water.

Sun cream

At The Little Learners Nursery we ask that you provide your child with your own sun cream. If you do not do so then we will have some sun cream at the nursery which we can provide and apply to your child. If you would not like us to apply the sun cream that we have it may mean that your child has to stay inside in the hot weather.

Notice of cancellation

We ask that you give 4 week’s notice for cancellation of your sessions.

Spare clothing

We ask that you bring a spare outfit for your child every session they are in because sometimes we will be doing messy/art type play and also water and sand play. Can you please also supply wellies and coats for the winter months.

Please supply nappies and wipes if they are required.

If you need any help with sourcing items, please do ask, as we are able to help where we can.

Key person

At The Little Learners Nursery we will ensure that every child has a designated key person who will track their progress within the EYFS and be available to you for any concerns or issues that may arise regarding your child or the setting.

Your child’s key person will be there for them with any issues that they may have. When some children first start at a nursery, they may find it slightly overwhelming or a bit unsettling to start with as it’s a completely different atmosphere for them. But we can reassure you that your child’s key worker will always be there to welcome them and make sure that the settling in process runs smoothly.

Your child’s progress within the EYFS is available for you to view whenever required.
